Committed to serving the community
Over the past decade, Taha Shaikh, BBA, has organized multiple events to build community rapport and strengthen bonds. He is an avid and devoted member of the community, and has been volunteering since the age of 12.
Taha was born in Toronto and raised in Markham by two hardworking and dedicated parents. He has spent his formative years in Markham and knows first hand how he can make a difference.
Taha is well aware of the changes needed within the education system, especially having been a part of the current education system himself. He attended elementary (Randall Public School, Town Centre Montessori Private Schools) and high school (Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School) in Markham. For this reason, he is running to be School Board Trustee of Ward 7 & 8 in Markham.
Throughout his high school career, Taha innovated long-standing traditions by serving on the student government. He took this same passion with him to the Schulich School of Business, where he continued to be an active member of his school and the community whilst obtaining a degree Bachelor of Business Administration and believes his business background will give him the edge he needs to make important decisions for the good of the education system.
Taha has a deep commitment to serving his community. He has volunteered for the Taste of Asia Festival, Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation, Diabetes Canada Foundation and multiple other organizations. His commitment to the community, drive for change and analytical background make him perfect for the position of York Region District School Board Trustee.
